Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Greene, Ga., was heckled Wednesday by a British reporter who spoke dismissively to her about guns.
“It’s our job to defend the second amendment,” Congresswoman Greene said as she ended her remarks about the Senate’s gun control law.
“I understand we don’t have guns in the UK, that’s true,” interjected the presumably British reporter, “but we don’t have mass shootings either. Children aren’t scared to go to school.”
“You have mass stabbings, lady,” responded the Georgia firebrand, “you have all kinds of murder and you’ve got laws against that.”
The British woman haughtily proclaimed her country did not have as many murders as experienced by the United States.
“Well, you can go back to your country and worry about your no-guns,” Greene fired back, adding, “we like ours, here.”
Neither the reporter’s identity or the publication she represented are known. An email requesting comment from Greene’s press office was not immediately returned
Greene posted a video excerpt of her remarks during a press conference with House minority leaders responding to pending Senate approval of a gun control law. “When British press wants to argue about our God-given American gun rights, my answer is: ‘go back to your own country,’” she remarked in a Twitter post above the video that has been viewed almost 800,000 times.
Standing alongside her Republican colleagues, Greene called out Senate GOP members Wednesday who sided with all the Democrats who voted to advance the gun control bill.
“Here’s the problem I have,” Greene exclaimed. “Joe Biden, then-Senator Joe Biden, made my school a gun-free school zone, and has left American students like sitting ducks — targets for anyone that wants to go kill them.”
She noted Biden is friendly with many of the Republicans who voted with Democrats to advance the federal gun control legislation before naming them.
“And I’ll tell you who they are, ’cause I don’t mind naming their names,” she said, “because people all over our country are furious at them.”
“Senator Blunt, Senator Burr, Senator Capito, Cassidy, Collins, Cornyn, who got booed off the stage practically in Texas, Ernst, Lindsey Graham, who promised me just a few years ago that he would not violate due process rights with Red Flag laws — broke his promise.”
“Mitch McConnell,” she continued, calling him a “complete failure to Republicans.” “Murkowsky, Portman, Romney, Tillis and Young.”

She also wrote on Twitter Wednesday, “Soon the only safe place for gun owners will be Second Amendment Sanctuary Countries with good sheriffs. Thanks to Senate Republicans”.
